Stops include:
Hanamaulu Bay. Films made here include Donovan's Reef, Pagan Love Song, To End All Wars, Voodoo Island, Six Days, Seven Nights and more. Watch scenes from some of these features while here. Get out, take pictures!
Ahukini Landing and pier, Kauai's first harbor and docking port.
Wailua Falls. Used in the beginning of every Fantasy Island episode (da plane, da plane!), we travel several miles to reach the stunning vista overlooking this famous falls. In addition to Fantasy Island, it was seen in Kevin Costner's Dragonfly, James Garners Castaway Cowboy, a national Coke commercial and was one of the last stops during CBS's third season of The Amazing Race. We will show you the crazies who plunged 200 feet down a zip line to the pool below.
Kauai cemetery hidden in the lush vegetation. What a beautiful place to spend eternity. On the right, a beautiful view of Mt. Waialeale, the wettest spot on Earth, from a gated off cane road.
Other features filmed on the grounds include Pagan Love Song, Miss Sadie Thompson, Fantasy Island, Voodoo Island, South Pacific, Deathmoon and Bird of Paradise with Debra Paget.
One of the first resorts in Hawaii, the Coco Palms has so much history. Used as a location for over a dozen features, the resort is most famous for its' continuing connection to Elvis. The primary location for his biggest hit, Blue Hawaii, Elvis would come back and visit, or stay there while making other Hawaiian features.
We are the only people allowed to tour the grounds of this fascinating place, which is why we include it in both our 4X4 and Land Tours. The Coco Palms has been closed and fenced off since Hurricane Iniki devastated it in 1992.
Queen's fishing pond. This was featured in two wedding scenes, the first from Blue Hawaii, the second from Fantasy Island.
We will also cross the highway and look down on the beautiful Wailua River, another very busy movie site and also Kamokila Village, used as the African Village in Outbreak.
Off we go to lunch at Lydgate Beach, a popular Kauai destination. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the surf as we enjoy our deli turkey sandwiches, pasta salad, chips and beverages. Vegetarian meals available with advance notice. We'll spend about 30 minutes here.
Next we head into the Wailua Forest, going deep into Kauai's interior to find the magical place Steven Spielberg found to build the massive Jurassic Park Gate. This part of the tour can get bumpy, so hang on, fasten your seat belt and enjoy the stunning beauty of Kauai's rainforest. We are heading to an area near the base of Mt. Waialeale, the wettest spot on Earth. After coming down from the gate, IF WE HAVE TIME, we will stop, let you wiggle your toes in the river and continue enjoying the splendor Mother Nature has blessed Kauai with.
